Ten years ago, I had a business with four of my high school friends. We called it Silver Creations. It’s an event organizing service. We organized weddings mostly that time. Then three of us happen to change pursuit. One went to finish and concentrate to Physical Therapy, another goes to Nursing, and I went to dancing on TV (toynk…)
I continued taking dance class in Powerdance. I missed my college days when I just put up with the difficult trainings with St. Scholastica’s College Dance Club, sadly, I was more into the college’s Chorale after realizing I have more friends there than in Dance Club (petty). Thereafter, I auditioned to Ms. Maribeth Bicharra’s dance group in Keep On Dancing, I happen to experience almost 3 weeks of training for two episodes. It’s funny ‘coz I had a chance to work with both Dance Guru Douglas Nierras and Maribeth Bicharra several years after. But not as their dancers anymore (strange?). Expert Douglas Nierras in ABS-CBN’s Star Dance and Maribeth Bicharra in You Can Dance on the same network as the programs’ Sales & Marketing Coordinator.
Subsequently, I preferred the News & Current Affairs grounding and work there eventually. I had the opportunity to work with the other departments of the TV network, from news to current affairs to reality shows to talk show to music and variety to game show to comedy to drama and so on….. These have put off my plans of visiting home. Yes, this kind of work is fun and knowledgeable being always on the ball, but it would really take almost your whole life to be good at it.
I gradually tried going home whenever I have the chance to squeeze and organize my schedules. By a quirk of fate, one weekend afternoon, I have taken a call for my Mom and it was one of my close childhood friends who happens to be one of my business partners in the event management group.
Surprisingly she told me she continued the business and progressively survived. I was so glad to hear about it especially now that I know I can help and contribute more than before (thanks to my work).
